England: Gameplay Information
After conquering England in 1066, the Normans rapidly replenished their coffers with an efficient new taxation system. The balanced force of their army and the fact that they invaded with the support of the Pope also counted in their favour, allowing them to conduct a more modern form of warfare for the new age. While Scotland to the north prevent England from having full control of the British Isles, they are isolated from potential allies in Europe and are therefore a relatively easy target. France to the south are plenty strong enough to defeat the English force in Normandy, but they have enough fronts to deal with that they are unlikely to be marching in force before England are able to gain a stronger hold on northern France. England's Longbowmen are some of the strongest in the world as well as strong infantry, although they have a poor variety of cavalry.

England start with a Large Town in London and Castles in Nottingham and Caen. They have enough troops to expand into local regions, but must prioritise where they want to expand to. Scotland are an immediate threat and must be dealt with early on, either by destroying them early on or by blocking off their expansion. The inital challenge is to create a powerbase of eight to ten terretories, creating an economy large enough to support the powerful armies that you are going to use to take on the world.

Recruitable Units
The following table contains all of the units that England can recruit in Multiplayer and Custom Battles. For the Grand Campaign, use the "All" period with the following corrections:
- Units in (Brackets) are mercenaries and therefore cannot be trained in campaign, although any general can recruit them in the field if he has space in his army and there are some available.
- Units in [Square Brackets] cannot be recruited in campaign, they are for Multiplayer and Custom Battles only.
- Units in Italics can only be recruited in certain regions (eg. The New World) or after a certain event (eg. The discovery of gunpowder).
