In her book The Hundred Years’s War, Historian Anne Curry writes: “A decisive blow was dealt at the battle of Formigny on 15 April (1450), where the English were emphatically defeated. This battle is significant because its outcome depended on the Count of Clermont’s judicious use of gunfire to draw the larger English army out of its defensive position.”
